On June 23, 2025, the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC), through its Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Department, conducted a technical tour of the YMCA building located on Crown Hill, Broad Street, Monrovia. The visit aimed to assess and identify solutions to ongoing water flow challenges affecting the facility.
The assessment team, led by GIS Supervisor Mr. Charles D. Yates, examined aging infrastructure, including a 4-inch galvanized pipeline extending from Clay Street to Broad Street. This pipeline has provided water to the YMCA for many years, but now faces deterioration and inconsistent water flow due to its age.
This collaboration aligns with Pillar Two of the YMCA’s Strategic Plan — Youth Empowerment, with a particular focus on promoting Healthy Living through improved access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene services.
The YMCA of Liberia extends heartfelt appreciation to the LWSC GIS Department for their technical support, professionalism, and commitment to finding sustainable solutions that enhance community well-being.
